Marietta Hall

When you think of college, what comes to mind? Long sidewalks, green lawns, pillars, historic buildings, clock towers, and lots of activity? A campus nestled in a charming river city? These are but a few of the things that await you at Marietta College.

Marietta is Ohio's oldest city, founded in 1788 and situated at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum rivers. Our hilly New England-style campus that shares its name encompasses 120 acres, complete with huge shade trees, magnolias, dogwoods, and dozens of red brick, antebellum buildings.

Founded in 1797, Marietta is one of "America's Revoluntionary Colleges," a distinction shared with only 37 colleges founded in the 18th century. In addition to this honor, Marietta College is among seven percent of all colleges with a Phi Beta Kappa chapter -- the world's oldest and country's most respected academic honorary society.
